South African President Nelson Mandela and his deputy, F.W. de Klerk, said on Friday (20/1) that they had cleared up the misunderstandings that had threatened their government of national unity. The ANC had accused de Klerk's former government of trying to cover up human rights abuses by wanting indemnity for the policemen, their former minister Adriaan Vlok and ex-defence minister Magnus Malan.
